Why Independent?

I'd like to talk about why I'm doing things this way...
Qobuz and a website... that's it.
I decided to switch to a method of distribution that I can control. Corporate entities are increasingly smug about musicians and the value they think we have in society. I removed my music from every streaming service, except Qobuz which has musician-first values, and made it available on my own site. Why?
Music is such a rich and human universal language. It speaks to us because we put a part of ourselves within it. Removing the human aspect from music, either by devaluing artists or using AI to generate it, removes all of its value.
This is my way of taking back some of that control. People will be searching for original content in the sea of AI generated or bland corporate music, and I want this to be a space where we can find each other and work on something special.
The world I create here will continue to be from the innermost depths of my mind, and I'll strive to make a colorful world to run away with when structure overwhelms you.
